Catholic Education

1. Vision and Mission

The School operates according to the model of a Catholic school, with its Catholic identity recognised in accordance with the criteria established by the Catholic Church.

These criteria are set out in the Code of Canon Law promulgated in 1983, particularly Canon 803 §§1–3 and Canons 804–806. Reference is also made to the Second Vatican Council's Declaration on Christian Education (Gravissimum Educationis), promulgated on 28 October 1965, particularly Sections 8 and 9, and the Congregation for Catholic Education's document The Religious Dimension of Education in a Catholic School: Guidelines for Reflection and Renewal , issued on 7 April 1988.

Committed to continuing the Catholic Church's contribution to education, the School seeks to uphold and pass on the following five core values to young people, preparing them for their future lives and responsibilities.

1.1 Truth

It is what the human intellect is searching for.

1.2 Justice

It is the moral virtue that consists of a constant and resolute will to give to God and one's neighbours their due.

1.3 Love (Charity)

It is the greatest of all virtues.

1.4 Life

It is a priceless gift from God and is sacred in itself.

1.5 Family

It is the basic unit of society.

2. Cultivating the Core Values

2.1 Collaboration with Stakeholders

Recognising that the success of education depends on the concerted efforts of all parties concerned, the School upholds the time-honoured practice of respecting and collaborating with stakeholders from diverse backgrounds. Through mutual respect and close cooperation, the School strives to fulfil its vision and mission. This approach is consistent with the principles set out in Canon 796 §2 and Canon 800 §2 of the Code of Canon Law.

2.2 A Caring School Environment

The School is committed to providing a family-like environment characterised by mutual trust and love, fostering a caring and supportive school community.

2.3 Religious Education and Catholic Ethos

The School incorporates Religious Education courses designed by the School Sponsoring Body into its formal curriculum and nurtures a Catholic ethos through regular religious ceremonies and activities. These include morning prayers and other religious activities organised for teachers and students, fostering spiritual growth and an understanding of Catholic values.
